Student sports in Turku and in the Turku University of Applied Sciences Student sports in Turku and in the Turku University of Applied Sciences are arranged by the Turku University of Applied Sciences’ sports club TULI ry in association with TUO. Tournaments Three different tournaments are arranged during the school year at the university of applied sciences. A Finnish baseball tournament, where the student organisation challenges the staff, is arranged in the autumn. A floorball tournament is also arranged in the autumn before Christmas. In the spring there is a futsal tounament. You can put together your own team for both the floorball and futsal tournaments and challenge other educational fields. The tournaments last for one day and start before noon. The three best futsal teams will be chosen to play for the futsal championship which is held between universities. Running school Running school has been organised in the spring of 2009 in association with coach Mikko Liukka. The idea is to develop and to enjoy diverse running training under good coaching. You can find your own sport through trying new sports The trying of new sports consists of individual trials of different sports. These trials are open to all students and are arranged 2-3 times a month with student friendly prices. With an exercise sticker you can nearly always get a 1-2 euro discount for trying new sports (The discount depends on the sport). New sports that have been tried so far, diving, riding, figure skating, lacross, yoga, circus, marital arts etc. There is a wide spectrum of sports and new ideas welcome. If you are enthusiastic about exercise but have not found a sport that suits you yet, it is worth while to try the “Löydä oma lajisi” (Find your own sport) voluntary course. During the course you are entitled to write a report of your goals, try twenty new sports and to keep a sports diary. You get three study points from the course and the course can last through your whole studies. There is no set maximum amount of participants so everyone gets in. The trials are announced on the websites of both the student organisation and the university of applied sciences. Additional activities TULI ry and the student union have arranged a Green card course for interested future golfers every spring. The golf championship of the university of applied sciences is also played for every spring.As a member of TUO you get discounts in various sports centres by showing your student card.
